Going on three and a half months of van living. Last night in California before we cross the Oregon border. Re-entering the magical zone of Cascadia. A REFRESHING PAST

My uncle recently handed me this Los Angeles Times magazine article from 1971, "Design Lab in the Dunes" by Dan MacMasters. This is a review of a course my Dad and his colleague Ahde Lahti taught at Cal Poly Pamona.  In their studios, students were to design and build temporary structures made out of corrugated cardboard.  They then transported and erected the structures in the dunes at Pismo Beach for a two-day camping trip. Here are some photos of what they came up with. All photographs were taken by Richard Gross.

#OccupyWallStreet is a people powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to sustained occupations in over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,700 cities globally. #OWS is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations.
